Marina Barkovskaya
My name is Marina Barkovskaya. I live in Voronezh, Russia.
I like the style in photography: Like in movies, portraits, LoveStory, since I travel a lot, I like street and reportage shooting. I like people's emotions in photography or capturing, for example, the movement in a dance... It is this liveliness that captivates in my works. I do not strive for an ideal licked photograph, for glossy perfection. The spark, the moment of truth, the authenticity of feelings are important to me. Photography for me is not just a recording of reality, but a way to tell a story, share emotions, make the viewer feel part of what is happening.
I often hear from people that my photographs are like paintings...)) My visual style in three words? Probably: movement and live emotions)). What is my uniqueness in shooting? I think in ease of communication, in explaining the very essence of the shoot, humor in the studio, help with posing. A plot for a photo shoot is born in my head and I immediately begin to implement it: I look for models, a studio, outfits, equipment, accessories.....
The story of one photo shoot: Last year I invited my friends to participate in the project: Calendar 2025.

We agreed to do this on January 8. I came up with images for each model, makeup, outfits that will show which month they will represent. 2.5 hours of laughter, movement, light, poses, 4 beautiful girls represented three months of the year. It turned out unusual, so later, based on these photos, we ordered calendars for all participants in the photo shoot Calendar 2025)).
Or another photo shoot: Meeting or long time no see.
Summary: A girl is walking in the park, and two guys and a girl are walking towards her... Recognition, joy, hugs, questions about life, stories about life, laughter, sadness... and I capture these emotions on camera)).. That is why I love reportage photography so much. The opportunity to catch a fleeting moment, to capture genuine emotions of people, to be in the epicenter of events is a real inspiration. Whether it is a street festival, a dance performance or just a chance meeting on the street, I always try to convey the atmosphere of the moment, its energy and mood.
What do people feel from my photos? Life)) these are not mannequins, but living people who share their emotions, their story.
And of course, the idea is important. A photo shoot should not be just a set of beautiful shots, but have its own concept, plot, story. That is why I think through each shoot so carefully, look for suitable locations, outfits, accessories. I want each photo to be a small work of art that tells its own story.
And, probably, the most important thing is love for your work. I just love taking photos. Seeing the world through the camera lens, capturing moments, creating beauty - this is what makes me happy. And I hope this happiness is transmitted to those who look at my photos.
My photos are not just shots, they are moments of life caught in the lens.
I strive to capture not a static picture, but the very essence of what is happening, those elusive emotions that make every moment unique. Be it joyful laughter, thoughtful sadness or passionate dance movement - I try to convey the atmosphere and mood so that the viewer can feel like a part of history.
In each of my works there is a spark of life, the very one that makes hearts beat faster. I don’t just take pictures, I tell stories, using light, color and composition as tools to create a visual narrative. And, of course, I am very pleased to hear that my photographs are compared to paintings – it means that I manage to create something more than just an image.
Photography for me is not a job, but a passion, a way to express myself and share my vision of the world with others. I love to experiment, try new things and look for unusual angles. And, of course, I am always open to new ideas and projects. That is why I love creating something new, like the calendar project. Or these fleeting encounters in the park, full of sincere emotions.

It seems to me that the secret of a successful photo shoot is not only technical skills, but also the ability to create a comfortable atmosphere. It is important that a person feels relaxed and natural in front of the camera. Humor, easy communication, help with posing - all this helps to open up, to show your true emotions.

These shots contain real life, and I am happy that I can share them with other people.
