Meet the Photographer

Hey, my name is Nathalie Neuherz and I come from Germany (Stuttgart). I prefer to photograph portraits, but I have not only specialized in this, I also photograph nature, pets (dogs and horses), families, etc.

✦ Style & Identity

What’s something unique about how you shoot or approach a session?

-Since I don't own a studio, I love to work with the natural light and surroundings of nature. My clients can decide where the shoot takes place, so that everything is more relaxed and intimate. This

usually results in wonderful photos, because I prefer to take photos from the moment and not take overly posed pictures.

✦ Storytelling

What’s a photo you’re most proud of, and why?

-It's a photo I took of my dear friend Katherine Castro. I was in Los Angeles for vacation and of course to take lots of photos. It was thanks to Katherine that I started my own business as a part-time photographer and she gave me the chance to photograph her on the beach in Santa Monica. My greatest pride and joy is a photo I took of her from the side. She is standing on the beach with a view of the sea and everything in the background was shrouded in fog. I simply pressed the shutter release at this exact moment and took my favorite picture.

✦ Process & Perspective

How do you prepare for a shoot? Any rituals or must-haves?

-I always prepare for a shoot in a very relaxed way. I listen to music while I pack up my equipment and look forward to creating new memories for others.

What’s the most unexpected thing photography has taught you?

-That if you are patient and try to understand your surroundings better, you will always be rewarded.

✦ Legacy & Impact

What do you want to be known for—as a photographer and as a creative?

-Especially as someone who manages to capture very special moments for eternity.

✦ Personal Reflection

What’s one truth about your creative journey that’s stayed with you?

-That with every photo I take and every shoot I do, I grow more and more as a photographer and become more experienced.

What’s something about you people don’t usually see in your work—but should?

-That every moment is a gift and we should enjoy it to the full, because time is something we will never get back.

To conclude this interview, I would like to dedicate a few words to my dear friend Katherine.

Dear Katherine,
I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for recognizing my potential and encouraging me to take the path into photography. Thank you for always believing in me and never giving up on me. I am eternally grateful to you for always supporting me and showing me the right way.
Thank you for always being there for me.
Your love, your support and how proud you are mean an incredible amount to me.

Love, Nathalie
